Roles and Responsibilites
Director:
- Plans, organizes, directs, and controls financial services within and among customer units through a business service center (BSC). The director's primary emphasis is on providing quality service to all customers and to the university. The center director will serve as an interface between the University Business Service Center (UBSC), the unit, and central administration, and will act as the business officer of those units for which financial management support is provided. The director regularly leads and participates in reengineering efforts to improve service delivery.
Customer Service Representative:
- Manages the agreement between the units and UBSC, ensuring compliance with university policy, procedure, and audit, collaborating with unit staff to develop the business knowledge of each area to ensure appropriate judgment in accomplishing administrative activities, answering technical questions, and ensuring timely and effective attention to service issues pertinent to this agreement. Customer Service Representatives serve as administrative/business managers for units that do not have one, providing comprehensive, administrative services and management in all support areas.
Financial Transaction Specialist:
- Processes all transactions for customer units in all support areas. Financial transaction specialists report to customer service representatives.
Department Head:
- Oversees and directs services within the unit. The department head will serve as an interface between the unit and the UBSC.
Department Contact:
- Serves as a delegate for the department head and represents the unit for services handled by the UBSC.
