CIT Unified Billing System (CUBS)
CIT is initiating a billing process consolidation and upgrade, which is called the CIT Unified Billing System (CUBS).
The ultimate goal of the CUBS project is to use one system of record to process all "for-fee" CIT services using a standard, end-to-end process that is efficient, flexible, and extensible for future services.
One objective of the project is to deliver CIT billing statements electronically, instead of by paper. As a first step, within the next 6-12 months, CIT will begin delivering statements electronically for telecommunications and network charges.
Electronic statements will give departments faster access to its statements each month, greater flexibility in accessing current and past billing data, and using it in reports, while also supporting Cornell's commitment to being an environmentally conscious campus (paper statements use 25,000 sheets of paper a month). CIT anticipates that electronic statements will also reduce their total billing cost for overhead.
Once CIT begins to provide this first set of statements electronically, they will offer a transition period for departments to continue receiving the statements on paper as well as electronically.
In later phases of the CUBS project, CIT will develop a single statement (also electronic) showing departments all charges for any CIT "for-fee" service.
